Curia

If you want to take a really atmospheric selfie in Vác, one of the best places to do so is the Mansion House. The Baroque building stands in the town square, with a music pavilion in front of it that plays a different tune every hour.

The history of the Curia dates back to the Middle Ages. The cellar underneath is a three-bay room of almost 140 square metres, part of which was built around 1520. It takes its name from the former Chapter House, where important council meetings were held. The medieval building was the seat of the episcopal advisory body, the chancery, as the arched doorway attests.

The building was later used as a hostel. The melodies of the bandstand are a real treat for any visitor standing in front of the Mansion.
