People who enjoy culture

The city's baroque main square and the surrounding streets offer a wealth of cultural events, museums and attractions in Vác.

On a historical walk you can visit the bridge over the Gombás stream, the ruins of Vác Castle, the Hegyes tower and the famous Vác triumphal arch, which is associated with many legends.

In the main square, it is well worth taking a closer look at the ruins of the former church of St Michael and the archaeological exhibition in the church of St Michael, which preserves centuries-old relics. Also in the main square is the Church of the Whites, a world-famous cultural and historical treasure discovered in 1994. The Ignác Tragor Museum's Memento Mori exhibition commemorates the legendary mummies of Vác.

Also, be sure to visit the famous Kolodko statues if you are in Vác! You can find the statue of Maria Theresa at the Arch of Triumph, the statue of Mother Hen at the railway station and the statue of Slingshot in front of the Pannonia House.

Vác's special feature is the life-size painting of Maria Theresa in the Baroque main square, painted by members of the Garay Art Studio.
