Vácrátót Botanical Garden
The Vácrátót National Botanical Garden is a 180-year-old listed and protected romantic landscape garden with the richest collection of scientific plants in Hungary. It offers a breathtaking view in all seasons on 27 hectares. The garden is home to 62 species of birds, 22 species of fish in the ponds and 73 species of molluscs. Annual plant displays, charming walking paths, geraniums and roses and many more of nature's little wonders await visitors all year round.
How to get there
You can get there by regular bus lines Vác - Gödöllő, Vác - Fót, Vác - Galgamácsa, and from Budapest by the line connecting to the 3rd metro line from Újpest centre - Őrbottyán - Vácrátót - Vácduka - Vác. The buses stop in front of the main entrance of the Botanical Garden.
The botanical garden can be reached by train on the Budapest Nyugati pu. - Vácrátót - Vác line, or by train on the Budapest Nyugati pu. - Szob line to Vác and from there to Vácrátót. Please note that there is no bus connection to the village (3 km).
By road, from Budapest you can take the M3 road Fót - Csomád - Őrbottyán - Vácrátót, from Gödöllő the Veresegyház - Őrbottyán route, from Vác the road to Vácrátót (further to Veresegyház - Gödöllő) or the M2 (2/A) road from the Vácrátót - Gödöllő exit. Vácrátót is 35 km from the centre of Budapest, 11 km from Vác and 15 km from Gödöllő.
Opening hours:
1 April-31 October: daily from 8 am to 6 pm,
1 November to 31 March: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.
