The Dragon Boat Team of the Danube Dragons from Vác returned home with a fantastic result from the 14th IDBF Dragon Boat World Championships in Ravenna, Italy. Among the 5,825 competitors from 163 clubs from 30 countries around the world, the team from Vác not only held their own, but also finished the competition as the 9th best team in the world in the overall medal table.
The preparations for the World Championships and the competition itself were a huge challenge for the participants. Dragon sailing is an extremely demanding sport in itself, but the conditions on site, such as the battle with insects, tested even the trained team members from Vác. However, despite the difficulties, the Danube Dragons performed excellently thanks to their hard training and teamwork.
Gold, silver and bronze - medal winners for the Danube Dragons
The team from Vác won a total of 4 gold, 4 silver and 7 bronze medals, which is a truly outstanding result for a competition of this level. In the different categories, such as Small Boat (10 boat) and Standard Boat (20 boat), they both excelled. The results for the Danube Dragons were as follows:
Small Boat category: 3 gold, 2 silver and 4 bronze medals, which placed them 6th.

The overall medal table placed the team from Vác in 9th place, which is an amazing result considering the international level of the competition and the large number of participants. In the different age categories - U-18, U-24, Premier and Senior - both men and women as well as the mix teams performed very well, in many cases winning in more than one category.
Long preparation and exciting days
The road to the competition was long and tough. The team has been preparing hard for months to be at their best for the competition in Italy. The 475 races during the days of the competition were challenging, sometimes the weather interfered, but the Danube Dragons overcame all obstacles.
With this performance, the dragon boaters from Vác brought pride not only to their city, but also to the country. The members of the team can be justifiably satisfied with their performance, as they are among the best in the world.
This achievement is not only a testament to hard work and perseverance, but also to how far commitment to sport and community unity can take a team. The Danube Dragons have proved that they can reach the top of the world in Vácon.
