On September 21, 2024, we invite you to a special event to celebrate the inauguration of the renovated Assumption Cathedral in Vác. The cathedral is one of the city's most important architectural heritage sites and will be reopened in its new splendour to once again fulfil its religious and cultural role.
The programme is varied and offers interesting events for all ages:
- 10:00 a.m. Solemn Mass. This ceremony will be a fitting start to a day that will mark an important milestone not only for the Cathedral but for the whole city.
- 17:00 Presentation of the renovated Cathedral: guided by art historian Dr. Veronika Nagy, you will gain an insight into the architectural and historical significance of the Cathedral. During the presentation you will learn about the details of the restoration and the building's past, which has preserved the history of the city over the centuries.
- 18:00 Festive Organ-Trombone Concert. The stunning sound of the organ and trombones will fill the Cathedral, bringing this festive day to a fitting close.
This event will be an exceptional opportunity to celebrate together the rebirth of the Cathedral, which will remain the centre of the cultural and spiritual life of Vác. Join us to be part of this uplifting day!
